MANESCHIJN MET OPEN GORDIJN
Fleur De Roeck
In her work, artist Fleur De Roeck expresses the spontaneity of the moment. Her direct improvisation and wild sense of color, texture, patterns and technique, translate into lyrical abstractions that remind us of compelling jazz compositions. In her paintings, she shows, with fearless courage, a certain cheerfulness and optimism that is often lost in this world.
De Roeck (1992 °) graduated three years ago as a graphic designer. Since then she has lived and worked in Antwerp and exhibits from time to time at home and abroad. The exhibition ‘Maneschijn met open gordijn‘ comprises her most recent work and shows us how various influences and motifs come together in a familiar way on the large (painter’s) canvas.
PRIMARIES // RUSH
Miles Fischler (1991 °) studied photography at Sint-Lukas Brussels and is, among other things, in-house photographer at The Word magazine. In her two-part exhibition, she brings together a selection of photos that she made during several wanderings in recent years. In PRIMARIES a gradually evolving collection of images explore the public space and the way in which humans manifest themselves within these architectural scenes of colour, volume and rhythm.
RUSH – the second part of her exhibition – consists of a stream of impressions of landscapes, details and characters that crossed her path through a journey in Canada and the US. The rapid succession of fragments show a series of fleeting observations that contrast with her otherwise balanced photographic compositions.
