One of KOPs finest residents, Kevin Kotahunyi, is curating our next KOPLABO. He chose to have photographer Adel Setta work together with visual artist Absa Sissoko on an innovative exhibition.

About two years ago, Adel Setta quit his job as a retail manager in order to travel to the birthplace of his Egyptian father. While portraying his family members over there, he developed a passion for photography. Since then, Adel joined ‘Loods des Doods’, an artistic collective that, amongst other things, creates macabre masks and performs lurid rituals. By doing so, they confront their audience with its own demons in a colourful way.

Absa Sissoko is a visual artist for whom art implies a therapeutic understanding. Her work has an outspoken meaning to herself, although it may not always be clear to the viewer. She paints and makes explicit ceramics and screen prints.

Kevin chose to put these two artists together, because of their determination to experiment with new art carriers. You can admire the consequences of their actions from March 20th till April 5th at our KOP Artspace. Also read our interview with the artists right here.
