EXPO // (INTER)NATIONAL AFFAIRS // 44FLAVOURS (DE) X KASKA (BE)

KOP Artspace // Amerikalei 128 // 2000 Antwerpen

In November, the Berlin based art collective 44flavours is collaborating with a couple of students from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts. You can watch the result of their residency and collab during the expo (INTER)NATIONAL AFFAIRS in the KOP Artspace.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp asked KOP to co-operate on their project ‘creative collectivity’. Together with five other art organisations, we let students experiment with the concept of ‘art collectives’. For KOP this sounded like the perfect reason to bring the Berlin art collective 44flavours to Belgium and let them work together with a couple of students from the Academy.

“The artist duo 44flavours Sebastian Bagge and Julio Rölle have been working together since 2003. Their artistic activities include painting, ceramics, sculptures, prints and objects. The painted object can be a piece of cardboard, stone, wood, a vase from a flea market or any wall standing somewhere in the world. 44flavours’ art is unadulterated, direct and intuitive: they use strong colours to create a pop art painting mix of spatial innuendo, Op art, figuration and symbols.
